Twelve Foot Ninja Australian Tour Continues Success

30 Jan

Twelve Foot Ninjas Australian Tour continues to far exceed the bands expectations with high attendances at shows and support overwhelming the band. The shows have been a great success for the band and have brought the band a ton of press.

More so than being a great success for the headlining band, the shows have also been a great success for local Progressive bands, many of whom are being exposed to a lot of new fans. Could this Twelve Foot Ninja tour be much needed rejuvenation that the Australian Prog scene needs?

Triple J Hottest 100 Voting System to be Changed

29 Jan

The Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) will endeavor to change the voting system for the biggest music democracy in the world, The Triple J Hottest 100. The ABC has stated that the decision to change the voting system comes after much of the 100 songs on the list were quite accurately predicted by two I.T experts whom posted a list online called, ‘The Warmest 100’.

The pair were able to predict much of the songs that would be on the Hottest 100 list by using stats from various social media sites. The two men have stated how easily they were able to predict the list because 51% of all voting was done via social media sites.

Due to fears that punters would use the Warmest 100 list to their advantage forced many bookmakers and betting agencies to postpone or cancel betting all together.

A spokesmen for ABC has stated that “we may be forced to make a few changes to the voting system to avoid spoiler attempts in the future”.

The Mars Volta split

24 Jan

In breaking news, The Mars Volta have announced via Twitter that the band will be no more. Singer, Cedric Bixler Zavala announced the split today, sighting struggling relations with the other half of The Mars Volta. The band were planning to head out on tour but plans have been cancelled due to the split.

Some fans believe Omar Rodriguez’s growing interest in his  side project, ‘Bosnian Rainbows’ led to some disinterest in continuing The Mars Volta. Rainbows recently completed a tour of Australia and are planning their next album.

No comment or statement has been heard from Rodriguez yet regarding the split, however Zavala has commented that recently the guitarist has been lacking in enthusiasm and passion towards Volta related endeavors.

Read Zavala’s Tweet here:

Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going but Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead.

I can’t sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta. I honestly thank all of you for buying our records and coming to our shows. You guys were a blast to play in front of. We could never had done it with out you. My dream was to get us to the point were Jon Theodore and Ikey Owens came back but sadly it’s over.

Thank u a million times over for ever giving a fuck about our band. For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to. I guess a break from mars volta means starting another band and ignoring all the support the fans gave us. I tried my hardest guys.

All I can do is move forward with my music and just be happy that mars volta ever happened at all. God Damn we had a blast. Thank u again. And no I’m not joking about any of this, I owe it 2 u guys to all fans to be serious about this.

Thank u to all past members who helped Volta along as well. we blasted through like a comet and left our mark! If u ever see me in person and want to know why I’ll tell u my story. Please just be happy that it happened at all remember all the opposition we were met with for just starting a new band back in 2001. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE VOLTA FANS WHO FLOODED WARNER BROS FACEBOOK PAGE AND GOT NOTHING IN RETURN! I was honored by this guys! ThankU

And for the record I’m still in love with ATDI. Proof was in MY performance. I would never get on stage if my heart was else where. I have cancelled shows before for knowing full well that my heart was not in it at that moment. Why? Because its an insult to the audience

2 be clear I’m not angry I just wanted to be honest with the people who have allowed me to make a living playing music. What am I suppose to do be some progressive house wife that’s cool with watching their partner go fuck other bands? We owe it 2 fans to tour”
